On July 14, 2026, Rockstar dropped Title Update 1.73. It added the Kortz Center Heist. It also quietly gutted the payouts on nearly every heist you have been grinding for years. Cayo Perico took a 30% hit. Diamond Casino lost a third of its value. Doomsday Heist got slashed by 40%.

The money meta that held steady since 2022 is dead. Everything you memorized about which heist pays best is now wrong.

This guide rebuilds the GTA Online money methods ranking from scratch using confirmed post-nerf numbers from the July 2026 update. No guesses. No pre-nerf data that looks good but is no longer true. Just what actually makes money right now.

What Rockstar Changed on July 14, 2026

Before ranking anything, you need to know what happened. The nerf was not a small tweak. It was a reset.

HeistOld Max PayoutNew Max PayoutCut
Cayo Perico (Pink Diamond)$1,300,000$910,000-30%
Cayo Perico (Tequila)$630,000$400,000-37%
Diamond Casino (Diamonds)$3,290,000$2,303,000-30%
Diamond Casino (Gold)$2,585,000$1,809,500-30%
Doomsday Act III$1,800,000$1,080,000-40%
Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid$500,000$400,000-20%
Kortz Center (new)$300K-$500K+New
Original Heists (Fleeca-Pacific)UnchangedUnchanged0%

Secondary loot on Cayo Perico also took a 10% cut. And repeat runs within the same week now have an 80% chance of spawning Tequila as the primary target, with Pink Diamond dropping to a 2% spawn rate. Rockstar made sure you cannot chain Cayo runs for quick millions anymore.

The original heists (Fleeca Job through Pacific Standard) were left alone. Setup mission payouts for those older heists actually increased slightly. For the full patch notes, see Rockstar’s official Title Update 1.73 notes.

GTA Online Money Methods: The New Ranking

Each method below is ranked by solo $/hour using confirmed post-nerf numbers. Multiplayer methods are noted where relevant but the ranking prioritizes what you can do alone.

GTA Online money methods ranked by dollar per hour July 2026 post nerf bar chart 10 methods compared

1. Kortz Center Heist — The New King (for Now)

The irony is not lost on anyone. Rockstar nerfed every old heist and then made the new one the best earner. The Kortz Center Heist pays $300,000 to $500,000+ per run with a 4x weekly completion bonus on your first clear each week. An optimized stealth run takes roughly 40 to 55 minutes once you know the routes. Community estimates place it at roughly $400K to $800K per hour depending on approach and painting values, though exact per-hour data is still being calculated as players optimize routes.

The catch: hosting requires a Mansion plus the Art Studio expansion. That is roughly GTA$16.2 million to start from zero. Join as crew for free while you save up. Full walkthrough in our Kortz Center Heist guide.

2. Cayo Perico — Still Good, No Longer God

Cayo Perico used to be the undisputed best solo money in the game. It still ranks high, but the nerf hurts. With Pink Diamond now capping at $910,000 and Tequila at $400,000, the realistic solo payout range is $600,000 to $1,100,000 per run including secondary loot. An optimized run takes 45 to 60 minutes. Realistic solo $/hour: roughly $600K to $900K for a practiced player who gets decent target RNG. Factor in the Tequila-heavy repeat spawn rates and the long-term average settles closer to $600K to $700K per hour for repeat grinding.

Setup cost: Kosatka submarine (GTA$2.2 million). The Sparrow helicopter upgrade (GTA$1.8 million) cuts prep time dramatically and pays for itself within a few runs.

3. Acid Lab — Best Value, Zero Drama

The Acid Lab was already strong before the nerf. Now it might be the best dollar-for-dollar business in the game. Setup is nearly free: complete the First Dose missions for Dax to get the Brickade 6×6, then pay GTA$750,000 for the lab equipment. Run 10 Fooligan Jobs to unlock the equipment upgrade, which is mandatory for good profit. A full batch sells for roughly $120,000 to $351,000 depending on upgrades and lobby bonuses. Production takes about 48 minutes when you buy supplies.

Effective $/hour: roughly $150K to $250K for almost zero active work. The Acid Lab runs in the background while you do heists. It is the closest thing to free money in GTA Online right now.

4. Agency — Consistent Solo Income

The Agency survived the nerf untouched. Payphone Hits with bonus objectives pay up to $85,000 each and take about five minutes. Security Contracts pay $30,000 to $60,000 per five-minute job. The Dr. Dre VIP Contract pays $1,000,000 one-time for 1.5 to 2 hours of work. The passive safe generates up to $20,000 per in-game day after completing roughly 200 Security Contracts.

Estimated $/hour: $300K to $500K combining Payphone Hits and Security Contracts in a tight rotation. Setup cost is around GTA$2 million for the Agency property.

5. Nightclub — Best Passive Income

The Nightclub is pure set-and-forget income. Its wall safe generates up to $50,000 per in-game day with high popularity. Meanwhile, the warehouse accrues goods from linked businesses (Bunker, Cocaine, Meth, Cash, Cargo) up to roughly $1.5 million in stored value. You only need to sell when the warehouse fills up.

Effective $/hour: hard to pin down since it is entirely passive, but roughly $60K to $100K per hour when factoring in safe income and occasional warehouse sales. The catch: you need three to five other businesses linked to the Nightclub for it to reach full potential. Do not buy this first. Setup cost is roughly GTA$1.08 million for the base Nightclub, but the real cost includes all the linked businesses.

6. Salvage Yard — Solid Variety Pick

Added in The Chop Shop update, the Salvage Yard generates roughly $1 million per week from three Robbery Contracts. Each contract pays $200,000 to $400,000. The Tow Truck service adds passive income of roughly $40,000 per in-game day. Setup cost is around GTA$1.43 million. Best used as a change of pace between heist runs rather than a primary grind.

7. Auto Shop Contracts — Quick and Repeatable

Auto Shop Contracts are untouched by the nerf. The Union Depository contract pays $270,000 to $300,000. Other contracts range from $170,000 to $200,000. Each takes 30 to 45 minutes. Back-to-back Union Depository runs can net roughly $350K to $400K per hour. Setup cost is roughly GTA$1.67 million.

8. Bunker — Steady, Slow, Reliable

The Bunker is a classic semi-passive earner. Buy supplies for $75,000, let them convert to stock, sell to Los Santos for roughly $210,000 profit. With both the Staff and Equipment upgrades (roughly GTA$1.75 million total), the Bunker produces a full batch of stock in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. Effective $/hour: roughly $60K to $90K. Sell smaller batches to guarantee a single delivery vehicle when playing solo. Recommended locations: Chumash or Farmhouse.

9. MC Businesses — Only During Bonus Weeks

Cocaine, Meth, and Cash businesses were already outclassed by the Acid Lab before the nerf. Now the gap is even wider. These are only worth running during 2x GTA$ bonus weeks. Document Forgery and Weed should be avoided entirely. They lose money when you factor in time spent.

10. VIP Work and Time Trials — Quick Cash, Not a Grind

Headhunter and Sightseer pay $20,000 to $40,000 each and take five to ten minutes. Time Trials pay roughly $100,000 to $250,000 and take a few minutes. Good for filling gaps between heist cooldowns. Not a primary income source.

The Best Money Rotation in July 2026

The post-nerf meta is not about grinding one activity. It is about stacking sources so something is always generating income.

The daily loop:

  1. Log in. Empty your Nightclub safe. Check Acid Lab stock.
  2. Run the Kortz Center Heist once for the 4x weekly bonus if you have not done it yet this week.
  3. If Kortz Center is on cooldown or you do not own the setup, run Cayo Perico.
  4. Between heists: Agency Payphone Hit → check Bunker → Auto Shop contract → resupply Acid Lab.
  5. Every Thursday: check the weekly bonus list. A 2x or 3x event can temporarily push any method up the ranking.

What to Buy First

If you are starting from zero in July 2026, here is the purchase order that maximizes your $/hour fastest.

PriorityPurchaseCostWhy First
1Acid Lab~$750KNearly free setup, prints money passively, zero skill required
2Kosatka Submarine$2.2MUnlocks Cayo Perico, still the second-best solo earner post-nerf
3Agency~$2MPayphone Hits pay $85K in 5 minutes, no cooldown, no setup
4Nightclub~$1.08MPassive income starts immediately, scales with more businesses
5Bunker (Chumash)~$1.17M+Steady semi-passive income, feeds Nightclub warehouse
6Mansion + Art Studio~$16.2MUnlocks Kortz Center hosting, the new #1 earner. Save this for last.

If GTA$16.2 million sounds impossible, join other players’ Kortz Center heists as crew. You earn money without owning anything. Run Cayo Perico and Agency work until you can afford the Mansion and Art Studio.

FAQ

Is Cayo Perico still worth it after the nerf?

Yes. It is still the second-best solo money method behind Kortz Center. The nerf stings but $600K to $900K per hour solo with no crew coordination required is better than any business. Just do not expect the $1.5 million per hour numbers from pre-July 2026 guides. Those are outdated.

How much does the Kortz Center Heist cost to start?

GTA$16.2 million minimum for the cheapest mansion plus the Art Studio expansion. GTA+ members get a GTA$2 million discount on the mansion, bringing the total to roughly GTA$14.2 million. If you already own a mansion, you only need the Art Studio expansion at roughly GTA$4.7 million. Crew members pay nothing to join. For details, read our Kortz Center Heist requirements breakdown.

What is the fastest way to make $2 million from zero?

Do the First Dose missions for a free Acid Lab. Run Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid ($400K). Complete the Dr. Dre VIP Contract at the Agency ($1M one-time). That puts you at roughly $1.4 million plus Acid Lab income. Run VIP Work between missions. You will hit $2 million within roughly 6 to 8 hours of efficient play.

Did Rockstar nerf all heists?

No. The original apartment heists (Fleeca Job through Pacific Standard) were not changed. Setup mission payouts for those heists actually increased slightly. Only Cayo Perico, Diamond Casino, Doomsday Heist, and Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid were nerfed. The new Kortz Center Heist was added with competitive payouts and a 4x weekly bonus.

Is the Acid Lab better than the Bunker?

For solo players, yes. The Acid Lab costs less to set up, produces faster, and sells with a single vehicle every time. The Bunker requires roughly GTA$2.9 million in total investment (property plus upgrades) to reach comparable profit levels and often spawns multiple delivery vehicles that are impossible to solo. Start with the Acid Lab. Buy the Bunker later when you can afford the upgrades upfront.

Should I buy a Mansion just for the Kortz Center Heist?

Only if you already own the Acid Lab, Kosatka, and Agency and have GTA$16 million sitting idle. The Mansion is a luxury purchase that unlocks a high-earning heist, but the upfront cost is enormous. Run Kortz Center as crew first. Save the hosting investment for when you have excess cash.

The Bottom Line

Rockstar’s July 2026 heist nerf was brutal. Cayo Perico lost roughly a third of its value. Diamond Casino and Doomsday got hit even harder. And the new Kortz Center Heist conveniently sits at the top of the pile with a $16 million entry fee.

The post-nerf meta rewards diversity. Grind one heist on repeat and the diminishing returns (Tequila spawn rates, cooldowns, weekly bonus resets) eat your profit. Rotate through Kortz Center, Cayo Perico, Agency work, and passive businesses, and your $/hour stays high across a full play session.

Start with the Acid Lab. It is the cheapest entry point and prints money while you do anything else. Add the Kosatka for Cayo Perico. Then the Agency for Payphone Hits. By the time you can afford a Mansion and Art Studio, you will have a full income engine running behind you.

The old meta is dead. The new one is more work. But the money is still there if you know where to look.
